PleinAir magazine proudly presents the 5th Annual Plein Air Convention & Expo (PACE), which will be held in beautiful Tucson, Arizona, April 15-19, 2016 (with optional pre-convention workshop and basics course beginning April 14).
Please join us for this one-of-a-kind experience featuring a faculty of some of the world’s top plein air artists (artists who paint outdoors, on location), as well as renowned figurative artists. The convention and expo includes classes, demonstrations, social activities, exhibitors, and on-site painting at the resort and surrounding areas.
You can choose to attend classes and demos from any or all of the three tracks — oil, pastels, and water media — there’s something for everyone! Large viewing screens in each room ensure every seat is a good seat, so you don’t miss a minute of the action.
The Expo Hall will feature some of your favorite product suppliers, who will offer exclusive convention-only pricing — a great time to treat yourself to some new art materials.
We encourage you to bring your own paint gear and come with us to great on-location paint sites in the Oro Valley, a painter’s dream! This year, guests will have the opportunity to paint in Old Tucson — an Old West town that will carry you back in time. Our field painters will be on hand to offer their expert tips and techniques and even do on-site demos for all to see.
There’s something for everyone at the Plein Air Convention & Expo. All levels of painters, from beginners to professional artists, are welcome and encouraged to attend. We offer a friendly atmosphere where everyone can learn and enjoy the art of plein air painting.
The 2016 convention will be held at the El Conquistador Resort and Spa, which offers guests an impressive list of amenities. We highly recommend you plan to come early or stay a few extra days just to enjoy all the El Conquistador has to offer!
Register today, tell your friends, and start making your plans to attend the 5th Annual Plein Air Convention & Expo — it will be the time of your life. See you there!
Let’s face it, it’s just plain fun to connect with longtime friends whom you may see only once a year at the annual convention. It’s easy to make new friends, too, because you all have something very exciting in common: painting! You’ll enjoy large group events and on-location paint-outs, and still have plenty of time to go to dinner or sit and talk with a smaller group. The convention is the perfect blend of social activities, painting, classes, demos, and shopping!
No matter what your goals as an artist are, as a hobbyist or a professional, you are sure to leave the convention a better painter. You’ll learn tips and techniques from some of the best painters in the world and will be able to immediately incorporate these new skills into your own artwork. You’ll be challenged to think bigger, and to think differently about your work — just imagine the possibilities!
The Plein Air Convention & Expo is the world’s largest gathering of plein air painters. There’s no other event like it on the planet. Art historian Jean Stern, director of the Irvine Museum, calls PACE “the most important gathering of artists in history” because each convention is different — each features incredible painters, and it’s an event that people will look back on and wish they had attended, every single time. He speaks of the countless moments from each convention that can never be repeated and of the painters who have been together onstage and may never paint together again. You may meet painters who will become some of the greatest of our generation. Come and be part of this historic event.
Even if you’re not quite sure about attending PACE yet, you’ll have peace of mind knowing there is no risk in registering now. Get signed up to hold your spot, and, should you need to cancel, you can receive up to a full refund minus a small processing fee (see full terms at checkout). We understand that plans can change, but if you want to attend, we encourage early registration in case the event fills and we have to turn guests away.
Even if you don’t know anyone else who is going to be attending, please join us! We do our best to make sure everyone makes new friends right away. The atmosphere is casual and friendly and you’ll fit right in — that’s our promise to you!
As we get closer to the start of PACE, we’ll stay in touch and provide all the details you need to make your trip to Tucson smooth and hassle-free. We’ll also update the details here, so check back often. The full program and agenda will be posted ahead of time so you can plan which sessions you’d like to attend each day. We’ll even let you know what to bring with you, all the way from painting supplies to clothing (tip: wear comfortable shoes!).
Your convention team works very hard to plan every little detail so when you arrive, you can relax and have the time of your life!
In the meantime, you are always welcome to contact us with any questions you have. Our friendly customer service team will be happy to answer questions or provide more details.
