Some comments from judges include:

“This has a tremendous magical quality in the clouds with beautiful colors throughout.” – Tim Horn
“A moody treatment of a quiet scene, the almost monochromatic colors add to the peace and quiet that is evoked. The horizontal stroke of color on the distant shore provides a necessary strength.” – Judge Nancy Tankersley.

“This piece is all about color……it has a nice, simple design, and the eye moves because of how the color is balanced, hardly employing differing values (in other words, the values are very well handled in order to keep them inside a tight value range). It’s a neat and surprisingly underused technique that creates a great feeling of atmosphere in this painting.” – Jennifer Diehl

A Signature Member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the International Society of Acrylic Painters and a member of the Oil Painters of America Ober-Rae is also a member of the Board of Directors for the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and of Arcite, a nationally recognized artist run gallery in Windsor Ontario where he resides.
