Pre Convention Oil Workshop With

Matt Smith

About the Workshop

Join Matt Smith for a pre-convention oil workshop built around the four fundamentals every strong painting depends on: drawing, value, design, and color. Matt is one of the most respected names in landscape painting, and he’ll show you how even experienced painters can make dramatic improvements by going back to these basics.

Matt starts with drawing (proportion and perspective), then shows why seeing value first is the key to stronger form, design, and light. From there he covers composition, choosing a motif, format, and where to place your dominant elements, and finishes with color and how it’s often misunderstood. You’ll leave seeing your subject like an artist, not just a painter, and ready to get more out of every demo and paint-out at PACE.
