Project Description

Mary Garrish

Churchill wrote “Happy are the painters, for they never shall be lonely: light and color, place and hope will keep them company until the end-or almost to the end of the day.” For Mary Garrish, this statement summarizes the joy of Plein Air painting.

Making the transition from being a busy surgeon to an avid Plein Air and studio painter was not always easy. Dedication to the art is Mary’s driving force. She is Past-President and a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, and the current President of the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAPSE).
