Michele received a B.F.A. from Kutztown University and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. After working 20 years as a graphic designer she turned to full time painting in 2001 and plein air painting in 2006. Byrne, who paints primarily in oils with a palette knife, most often explores the theme The Art of Conversation, painting cafés, street scenes, music venues, or any social situation where people gather to converse.
During the past two years, Michele has painted in Cuba, New York City, and various plein air events across the country. She has won numerous awards for her work, most recently The President’s Choice Award in the American Impressionist Society’s 2018 Annual Exhibit.
Liliedahl Productions has released two instructional videos of Michele’s work, the latest, (2018) is titled “PALETTE KNIFE Painting with Michele Byrne”.
Michele is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and a nominated member of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. Other memberships include the Oil Painters of America, Salmagundi Club and Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.”
